Regional Investor Rescues Plant Manufacturer KREISEL from Crisis

As a result of the self-administration proceedings that were initiated on January 31, 2025, at the Dresden District Court, a solution has been identified to preserve the specialist plant manufacturer KREISEL GmbH & Co. KG.

“I’m very pleased that we succeeded in saving KREISEL. After several challenging months of restructuring, the restart has been successful,” said attorney Enrico Schwartz of SCHWARTZ Consulting, who has acted as Chief Restructuring O7icer (CRO) and supported the company through the process.

Under the new name KREISEL Industries GmbH, the company will reposition and further develop itself in collaboration with a regional investor.

Wolfram Kreisel, the Managing Director, also expressed his satisfaction with the change: "I am pleased that we can now look forward to the future with optimism. The past few months have not been easy. I’m especially thankful to our employees, customers, partners, and sales representatives—without their tireless dedication and strong support, it wouldn’t have been possible to maintain uninterrupted operations despite the di7icult situation.” During the self-administration, Wolfram Kreisel continued to lead day-to-day business and will remain as Managing Director of the newly established KREISEL Industries GmbH.

Jobs Secured

The restructuring was supported by attorney Stefan Ettelt of the law firm Kulitzscher & Ettelt, who, along with his team, advised the company on all insolvency-related matters over the past few months. “KREISEL is now set for a fresh start. The transfer restructuring is a major step toward making the company future-proof and sustainable. I am especially pleased, as is the entire restructuring team, that the workforce can transition to the new KREISEL Industries GmbH—thus securing around 110 jobs and 11 apprenticeships”, Ettelt stated.

The investor process was a central element of the restructuring strategy. Simon Leopold, Managing Director of ABG Consulting-Partner GmbH & Co. KG, and his team were responsible for its structured execution: “We worked intensely to find a promising candidate who could provide a timely yet sustainable solution for the company and its employees. I’m glad we successfully completed the investor process despite the currently challenging economic environment.” The consulting team also supported KREISEL as a commercial advisor.

Court-appointed custodian Rüdiger Wienberg of the law firm hww hermann wienberg wilhelm welcomed the outcome: “Despite all di7iculties, all parties pulled together and worked under great pressure to organize a sustainable future for KREISEL, a company steeped in tradition and vital to the Lusatia region. This would not have been possible without the support of the involved banks, suppliers, customers, the creditors’ committee, and above all, the employees’ loyalty to the company”, said Wienberg.

Need for Restructuring Due to Energy Crisis and Cyberattack

KREISEL, based in Krauschwitz, Saxony, looks back on more than 113 years of company history. From its beginnings in metalworking and welding, the company has evolved into an internationally recognized plant manufacturer and expert in bulk material handling.

Rising financing costs and declining earnings due to the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic placed the company under severe strain. Additionally, a cyberattack in Q1 2024 significantly restricted KREISEL’s operations for several weeks. Recent geopolitical crises only exacerbated the situation. As e7orts to resolve the crisis outside of court proved unsuccessful, the management duly filed for self-administration on November 19, 2024. Business operations have continued uninterrupted since.

About KREISEL Industries GmbH

As of May 1, 2025, the new company KREISEL will focus on manufacturing in-house designed components for bulk material handling, which will continue to be distributed worldwide. Its flagship product is the KREISEL rotary valve. For instance, the highpressure rotary valve represents the latest in technology and, due to its significantly reduced motor energy consumption, is a perfect replacement for screw pumps. All KREISEL products are known for their exceptional quality and outstanding durability. Depending on customer requirements, rotary valves can be lined with Ultra-Carbide® or ceramic elements to increase wear protection.

In addition to rotary valves, other essential bulk material components such as double flap valves, diverter valves, shut-o7 slides, and dome valves will continue to be developed, manufactured, and sold globally. Proven products under the Schä7er® brand will also remain part of the portfolio. KREISEL also o7ers a comprehensive range of spare parts for each component to ensure long-term operational safety and ease of maintenance. These high-quality components are not only used in construction but are also ideal for conveying and dosing in the recycling, pharmaceutical, and food industries.
